Company profile

Envirosuite is a leader in environmental monitoring and compliance, with 250+ people across 12+ locations worldwide. Ready to meet new regulatory reporting requirements under the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS), they saw an opportunity to go beyond compliance.

They imagined a culture where sustainability was something every person shaped. A place where impact lived in everyday actions.

Objectives

Build a network of sustainability champions driven by real connection, not compliance

Create a legacy of people-powered change across teams and locations

Strengthen collaboration by sharing different experiences and ideas across teams, functions and locations

kandu sustainability pilot

Envirosuite partnered with kandu sustainability on a 3-month pilot, nurturing existing interest and giving them tools to act on it. The program placed people at the centre, recognising that lasting change starts with individual passion, supported by collective action.

To help this grow, we focused on practical skills, real conversations, and linking sustainability to what people cared about most. Their work, their teams, their future.

3 Month program
Monica collaborating with colleagues across departments

Growing connections

Before the pilot, Monica had studied sustainability and worked in the field, with plenty of ideas for initiatives. Without a clear cross-team channel, many of her suggestions remained local to her department.

Through the kandu program, she found new ways to connect with colleagues across the organisation - and saw her ideas gain momentum in places she hadn't expected.

Seeing colleagues from different departments engage with my suggestions gave me confidence that these ideas mattered and that I wasn't working in isolation.

Key success factors

Leadership direction

Leadership set the direction - but real change grew from people stepping forward, bringing ideas and initiatives relating to their role and expertise.

Practical resources

Practical resources, including tools to assess feasibility and impact, helped teams prioritise ideas and move from discussion to action.

Conditions for impact

By creating space for contributions across all levels, Envirosuite uncovered practical, people-led solutions.

Having our COO, Ana, actively involved sent a clear message that sustainability was a strategic priority each of us could shape.

Zoey, Australia

Tangible outcomes

Reusable cups in central location

Everyday victories

Zoey's suggestion to relocate reusable cups created daily reminders of collective sustainability. Moving them to a central, high-traffic spot made them easier to use and encouraged a shared habit.

Sustainable kitchen products

Living values

Bianca's initiative to switch to more sustainable kitchen products made invisible choices visible. By sourcing and sharing supplier options with the team, she helped embed sustainability into everyday office operations.

Cloud infrastructure review

Futureproofing

Rod initiated a review of cloud providers with an emissions-first mindset. Because the idea came from within the IT team, the change didn't require additional layers of sustainability change management.

Internal sustainability page

Emerging ownership

Around the same time, an internal sustainability page was set up, where people began adding their own ideas and updates. A space created by the team, not requested by leadership.

Cross-team collaboration session

Cross-team collaboration

Monica led sustainability review sessions that connected people across offices and departments. These sessions created space for teams to align, share ideas, and support each other's work.

Together, these actions started making sustainability feel like a collective initiative, not a separate project.

People-led impact

Champions presented their plans to leadership, influencing strategic decisions and how sustainability is embedded across the organisation.

Spreading the love

The champions shared their passion and their achievements in their monthly "Fireside" company All Hands sessions.

Ongoing conversations

The champions created a chat channel to have an ongoing conversation about sustainability and bring more people into the fold, even those not in the original pilot.

Lasting legacy

Envirosuite created a sustainability champions network with a rotating leadership model, opening the door for more people to develop leadership skills, share ideas, and build connections across global offices.

These connections will keep growing, led by the next wave of sustainability champions.

I'm proud that our office in California is connected to colleagues around the world through our shared sustainability projects.
